XM Opens Gold Trading Through the Weekend with GOLD24-7
Abstract:XM has launched GOLD24-7, a new instrument enabling weekend trading of gold (XAU/USD) via MT4 and MT5 with no extra commission. The move addresses the risk of Monday opening gaps caused by weekend news events.

XM, the trading and investment firm with over 20 million clients across more than 190 countries, has launched GOLD24-7, a new instrument that allows traders to trade gold against the US dollar throughout the weekend. Announced on August 6 from Limassol, Cyprus, the move closes a long-standing gap in which gold traders were locked out of their positions from Friday's close until Monday's open.
“Markets don't stop generating news simply because it's the weekend,” said Stavri Morti, Co-CEO at XM. “Economic data, geopolitical developments and breaking news can all influence market sentiment over the weekend. We introduced GOLD24-7 to give our clients greater flexibility to respond to those developments as they happen, instead of waiting until Monday.”
How GOLD24-7 Works
GOLD24-7 extends XM's existing gold product to operate during the weekend when conventional markets are closed. The service draws on liquidity providers to facilitate trading on XAU/USD from Saturday to Sunday, delivering near-continuous access to the precious metal.
Clients can access the instrument through MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 with no additional software. XM charges no extra commission for GOLD24-7, and it is now available to all clients.
Closing the Weekend Gap
Gold is a safe-haven asset whose price can swing sharply on weekend events such as political elections, natural disasters, or unexpected economic data. Under traditional hours, traders could only watch, unable to adjust positions until Monday, when opening gaps could deliver unpleasant surprises.
GOLD24-7 aims to mitigate that risk by providing continuous weekend liquidity. Traders can now react to breaking news in real time, manage risk by adjusting or exiting positions, and potentially capitalise on price movements outside standard hours.
What Traders Should Watch
Weekend trading carries important caveats. XM has cautioned that spreads may be wider and liquidity lower during weekend sessions, which could affect execution prices. These are structural features of off-hours markets, not specific to XM, but they matter for anyone trading on a Saturday or Sunday.
For now, GOLD24-7 supports only XAU/USD. XM may expand the offering to other precious metals in future, though no timeline has been given.
A Strategic Expansion
The launch is part of XM's broader strategy to expand its product offering while evolving its trading experience to match changing market conditions. The broker has been a market leader in gold trading for over 15 years, a position reinforced earlier this year amid historic gold market volatility, when it delivered uninterrupted execution, zero requotes and no rejections.
GOLD24-7 builds on that record by extending gold trading beyond the traditional five-day week, giving retail and professional traders alike a tool previously unavailable on the platform.
